Homework #1

After reading the article, the realization came that anyone can recognize the difference between good and bad design without being aware of it. If one was to look at a UI that was pleasant to view versus one that was cluttered and ugly, these differing designs would bring out different feelings. Poor design-- something cluttered-- makes the viewer feel overwhelmed and immediately puts them off to the message the design is trying to convey. Good design transmits a clear and simple message quickly, while also being pleasing and memorable enough to promote positive brand recognition. The goal is to create something good, yet subtle. Bad designs stick out for all the wrong reasons; its purpose is lost and leaves the viewer confused.
